As a user, I expect that when I purchase an NFT that CoinTracker tracks the cost basis upon acquisition and when I dispose of that NFT the cost basis is used to calculate my capital gain or loss.
Users report when disposing an NFT the cost basis for that NFT is not being carried over from the acquisition and defaulting to 0.00. Here is an example (Image 1).
This is behavior is not occurring for all NFTs only a subset of NFTs. The root cause is due to CoinTracker not properly identifying the acquired NFT and disposed NFT as the same asset. As a workaround, users can create a custom currency to replace both of the NFTs. This will ensure that CoinTracker identifies both assets as the same.
We have escalated this behavior to our engineering team and will update this post once a fix is deployed. Thank you for your patience!
