Binance “Small Assets Exchange” Trades Misclassified (USDC/XRP shown as BNB) and Missing Transactions
complete
Raquel Heller
What is the issue?
Some Binance transactions are not accurately reflected in CoinTracker for both Binance Exchange and Binance Smart Chain Wallet. In particular, Binance “Small Assets Exchange” conversions (dust conversions) can be miscategorized—e.g., received USDC is incorrectly shown as received in BNB, and fees are calculated in BNB instead of the actual received asset. In some cases, affected transactions may be missing entirely from the transaction list, leading to balance and history discrepancies.
Who is affected?
Users connected via Binance integrations (Binance Exchange and/or Binance Smart Chain Wallet), especially those using Binance’s “Small Assets Exchange” (dust conversion) feature and relying on CoinTracker for accurate balances and tax reporting.

Issue with Small Assets Exchange Categorization in Binance Tax API
When using the Binance Tax API, transactions involving the "Small Assets Exchange" feature are miscategorized. For example:
"Spot","Small Assets Exchange BNB","USDC","5.91438701","XRP to USDC"
"Spot","Small Assets Exchange BNB","XRP","-1.87145422","XRP to USDC"
In this case, the API incorrectly treats the received USDC amount as if it were received in BNB, and applies the fee calculation in BNB rather than USDC. This leads to inaccurate tax reporting and asset tracking.
These transactions are correctly listed in the DustLog API, which should be used as the authoritative source for small asset conversions.
Suggested Fix:
Ensure that the Binance Tax API aligns with the DustLog API when categorizing "Small Assets Exchange" transactions, particularly in terms of:
- Received asset type
- Fee denomination
- Conversion direction
