Bug Report: CoinTracker TurboTax Integration Triggers Pre-1971 Property Form
What is the issue?
After connecting CoinTracker directly to TurboTax, some transactions incorrectly trigger a state form for the sale of property acquired prior to June 1, 1971. TurboTax auto-checks two fields on the affected transactions: "This asset was acquired before 1971" and "This is a like-kind exchange."
Both are incorrect for cryptocurrency transactions and block e-filing until manually corrected.
Who is affected?
Users who use the CoinTracker direct integration with TurboTax and file a state return. Confirmed on 2025 tax year returns. The affected transactions in the reported case had acquisition dates in 2025 — no pre-1971 dates exist in the underlying CoinTracker data.
What is the workaround?
In TurboTax, navigate to the state return review section and locate the flagged transactions. For each one, click Edit and uncheck "This asset was acquired before 1971," then uncheck "This is a like-kind exchange." E-filing should proceed once both boxes are unchecked on all flagged transactions.

After investigating and consulting with Intuit directly, we've determined that the PA Schedule D-71 form is being triggered by TurboTax, not by CoinTracker's integration. Since this falls outside what we own or can resolve on our end, we're closing this report.
The workaround documented here (unchecking "acquired before 1971" and "like-kind exchange" in the state return review) remains valid in the meantime. If you believe this recurs in a way that points back to our data, please open a new report and we'll take another look.
